Yaw Buaben Asamoah, the dispatches director of the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) has indicted the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) of trying to degrade state institutions including the bar.

Asamoah’s comment comes after the NDC solicited the Commonwealth Secretariat in the UK over what it called mortal rights violations, felonious persecutions, and the importunity of its members.

“ It’s unseasonable, all that they’re doing is unseasonable. What do they want us to do, abandon the judicial system with processes ongoing grounded on their opinion of the way justice is allocated out in this country,” Buaben told Asaase News on Tuesday (1 March).

“ They’ve noway illuminated the bar in this country. They’ve constantly attacked the bar in and out of power.”

He added “ They want to operate above the law and they want to operate in a way that sets them piecemeal from the rest of us. So, in what way is the Commonwealth going to profit us when we have a bar.”

The opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) has solicited the Commonwealth Secretariat in the UK over what it called mortal rights violations, felonious persecutions, and the importunity of its members.

Addressing the media in Accra on Monday, the general clerk of the NDC, Johnson Asiedu Nketia says the bar is being used by the Akufo-Addo- led the government to kill its members and fears utmost of the cases against NDC officers won’t go in their favor.

The NDC has, thus, solicited the Commonwealth to bring a platoon of investigators and attorneys to assess the acceptability and quality of the justice being administered to its members.
